The recipients of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of The Year award in Florida include several bay area executives.
Award recipients were announced at a awards gala event Thursday night at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. An independent judging panel of regional business, academic and community leaders made the selections.
West Central Florida winners were named in four categories. They included:
• Health services: Stephen F. Dickey, founder and vice president of operations, Doctor’s Walk-In Clinic in Tampa
• Marketing, media and entertainment: Tony Little, president, CEO and founder, Health International Corp. in St. Petersburg
• Services: Scott Riley, CEO, Fintech in Tampa
• Technology: Tony DiBenedetto, Chairman & CEO, Tribridge in Tampa
The Entrepreneur Of The Year award recognizes efforts in business excellence and community improvement.
In all, there were nine honorees. Regional award recipients will be considered for the Ernst & Young LLP Entrepreneur of The Year 2009 national awards.
Winners in numerous national categories, as well as the overall national winner, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif., on Nov. 14, 2009.
It is the 23rd anniversary of the program, which has expanded to recognize business leaders in more than 135 cities in 50 countries. Awards are given to entrepreneurs “who demonstrate extraordinary success in the areas of innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
